David Hill

ASLA, LEED® AP Associate Professor, Landscape Architecture, Auburn University Principal, HILLWORKS: landscape+architecture

David is an associate professor in the Graduate Program of Landscape Architecture at Auburn University as well as the founding principal of HILLWORKS: landscape + architecture. At Auburn, he leads research seminars and investigative design studios that unpack the complexity of the landscape across the rich spectrum of urban and rural conditions. David obsessively advocates for the regenerative potentials of within each site. He is not only able to advance disciplinary research through academic investigation, but also through the trenches of actual project development at HILLWORKS.

As both a registered Architect and Landscape Architect, David has managed various regenerative projects throughout the United States. HILLWORKS projects have been presented nationally and internationally at conferences, symposia, and universities and published in rags like Dwell, ReModeling, Society South, and Builder. The work has received regional and national design awards in architecture, landscape architecture, historic preservation, and was recently awarded a 2014 National ASLA Award of Honor in Research for the Phenology Project.
